Mission
The mission of the Northwoods Music Collaborative is to use music to stimulate, inspire, and educate communities in the region of northern Michigan by (1) presenting innovative, interactive, and affordable performances of world-class music of various genres; (2) offering community outreach and education; (3) creating new music about the region; and (4) creating a nourishing environment in which professional musicians can practice their art. Our organization advances this mission by creating programs that are offered to schools and communities at no or little cost. These programs present premiers of music that has been composed using inspiration from the natural surroundings and residents of the UP. We bring in highly skilled musicians from all over the world, some of whom have never been in this region, offering them the opportunity to recreate and perform, in some of the best regional concert halls, for very enthusiastic audiences, during their residencies.

Accessibility
- Beethoven and Banjos events have adopted the motto "Come as you are. Pay what you can." At each concert, baskets are passed throughout the audience during intermission and audience members are encouraged to "pay what they can," trusting that those with more means will support those with less, trusting that we take care of each other as a community. This allows everyone to experience great music no matter what they can afford. All facilities at which our programs are held are accessible to persons with disabilities in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
